Duke Power
created Lake Norman in 1963 as a source of energy for
the piedmont region of North Carolina, but also created
an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy
activities such as boating, fishing, and swimming. Once
considered a place to have a summer cottage, Lake Norman
has been transformed into a year-round community with
planned developments and a wide variety of homes.
